Rene Rushing grew up in Colorado, and was one of those girls who always loved horses. She is mostly self taught has been sculpting since age 13. Growing up Rene dreamed of both moving away from the cold weather and pursuing a career in art, and of course, being around horses.
After moving to Southern California almost 40 years ago, she started out by doing commissions of race horses in bronze. She became known in many equestrian circles, and honed her artistic style by experimenting with different mediums.
Today Rene lives and works in Ventura County, California. When she's not sculpting miniature scenes, she can usually be found out at the ranch taking care of her cats, going for long walks out in the citrus orchards, or walking on the beach.
Rene takes inspiration from her beautiful rural surroundings, and transforms it into beautiful miniature creations.
